Earnestly Seek Me

Scripture: I will return again to my place, until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face, and in their distress earnestly seek me. Hosea 5:15

Prayer: Lord, we repent for our selfish pride and we admit that, too often, we live for ourselves and turn from You. May we seek you continually in all things. Amen

Application: Pride and self-righteousness are so corrosive to our faith in God. When we acknowledge our sin and seek His righteousness, He is merciful, gracious and just.

Are you waiting for distress to make your heart humble and contrite, or are you making a choice to continually seek the face of the Lord?

I Am Your Servant

Scripture: I am your servant; give me understanding, that I may know your testimonies! Psalm 119:125

Prayer: Lord, I embrace the role of servant in Your kingdom. Grant me wisdom and understanding in obeying Your Word. Amen

Application: In God’s kingdom where “the last will be first, and the first last” (Matthew 20:16) the servant is a role of great honor.

As we reflect on the powerful testimonies of the Lord and His servants, are we actively seeking out opportunities to serve?

To Overlook An Offense

Scripture: Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11

Prayer: Lord, help us to be steady and calm, slow to anger, discerning and empathetic. May we respond to your call and cut through the noise, overlooking offense and turning to You. Amen

Application: It is heartbreaking and emotional to see our families and our brothers and sisters in Christ suffering. Sadness can quickly turn to anger, seeking justice or revenge.

Are you overlooking offenses, trusting in the Lord, rather than holding a grudge?

The Pride of Your Heart

Scripture: The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, in your lofty dwelling, who say in your heart, “Who will bring me down to the ground?” Obadiah 1:3

Prayer: Lord, we repent for our foolish arrogance. Our abundant “wealth” causes us to believe we can be our own saviors. May we humble ourselves before You. Amen

Application: For those of us that are healthy, safe, even prosperous during this time, may we be reminded that these temporary things are not our salvation. May we use our resources for His purpose rather than our own protection.

Is your heart deceiving you into a false sense of security?

It Is Better To Take Refuge In The Lord

Scripture: It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes. Psalm 118:8-9

Prayer: Lord, we place our trust fully in You. May our confidence rest in Your leadership, not looking to men for promises that only You can fulfill. Amen

Application: In tumultuous times it’s easy to lose sight of our true leader. We are reminded that even the most capable among man will fall short.

Are you trying to control what man cannot control, or trusting the Lord to be your refuge?

Peace, Quietness & Trust Forever

Scripture: And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. Isaiah 32:17

Prayer: Lord, we receive, accept and glorify Your righteousness. May we honor You with quiet trust and confidence even in the midst of confusion and chaos. Amen

Application: As we learn to seek first the righteousness of the Lord and trust in him, we become steady, stable, unshaken in times of worldly uncertainty. The Lord is our shelter from the storm.

What are some disciplines you are leaning into right now that will bring peace, quietness and trust in the Lord to the forefront?

A Fool Takes No Pleasure In Understanding, But Only In Expressing His Opinion

Scripture: A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. Proverbs 18:2

Prayer: Lord, I repent for being reactive, for being emotional, for being short-tempered. May I seek first Your righteousness and seek to understand how I may serve Your purpose rather than my own. Amen

Application: In times of extreme stress and anxiety, it can be easy to become agitated and restless. The Lord our God has given us His peace, and nothing in this world can take that away.

Take three deep breaths, and let the Holy Spirit wash over you, know that all your problems have a solution. Turn the tide with gratitude and worship!

Despite His Wonders, They Did Not Believe

Scripture: In spite of all this, they still sinned; despite his wonders, they did not believe. So he made their days vanish like a breath, and their years in terror. Psalm 78:32-33

Prayer: Lord, we praise You in Your glory, that You use ALL things for good. May we fear You, trust You, love You, and obey You all at once. Give us strength and clarity in this time Lord. Amen

Application: It can be easy to trust the Lord in times of blessing and abundance, and doubt Him in struggle and suffering. Or forget the Lord in times of blessing, and trust Him only when we have no other choice.

Jesus set an example of obedience in both blessing and suffering. How are you honoring His example and following His lead in this time?

We Are God’s Children Now

Scripture: Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2

Prayer: Lord, you are a generous and glorious father, we thank you for adopting us as Your children. May we grow each day in our relationship with You. Amen

Application: We must abide in the Lord, knowing that He will fulfill His promises. We do not know when our day will come, so we must make the most of each and every one.

How can we show our gratefulness to the Lord today?

The Lord Is Good To Those Who Wait For Him

Scripture: The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. Lamentations 3:25

Prayer: Lord, we wait patiently for You, steadfast in our love for You. May we never stop seeking You in every aspect of our lives. Amen

Application: In some seasons the Lord will call us to wait patiently for Him, standing upon the watchtower looking for Him. While we may wish for God to move faster to ease us from our discomfort, we must release that anxiousness and trust His perfect plan.

Have you taken time to be still today, to stop moving yourself, that you may recognize Him when He moves?
